So, today, I am going to review Twisted Twenties by Deepali Junjappa. Let’s have a look at the synopsis first.
With a variety of shows, written by award-winning novelists, literary stalwarts and adapted from famous novels and books, Zindagi aims to showcase stories of those from across the world that share similar cultural backgrounds, morals and values that are also intrinsic to India.
Perry Mason series and Tom Brown’s school days were my favourite! In fact Tom Brown’s School Days was a book he won when he was in sixth standard.
I cannot imagine my Nanaji as a little boy. I have always seen him in a turban with a jolly smile and twinkling eyes.
In fact it was his beard and twinkling eyes that led me to believe that he was in fact Santa Claus! He did have a godown full of toys and would let me take as many as I wanted back home. He did not live on the North Pole but Mt. Abu did experience sub zero temperatures in the winters. So my theory completely checked out. J
Check the photographs. Isn’t the resemblance uncanny?
My Nanaji encouraged me to a voracious reader. I cherish the numerous books he has given till date. In fact half the books in my book shelf have been gifted by him.
Along with loving books, he taught me the importance of sharing them with others. I ensure that I donate my pre loved books to a nearby library so that others can enjoy them.
Do you know that my Nanaji is past 70 and has a blog? Yep, he blogs at http://holyabu.blogspot.in/whenever he finds time. Do check his posts out, they are wonderful and I am not partial because he is my Nanaji.
Whenever I write something, I know for sure, that he will be amongst the first ones to read it and write something nice about it.
On 1st March, I did not get up early and go to the Gurudwara, nor did I eat daal pakwaan for breakfast or hear my mom read my horoscope aloud. My mom, like any other Indian mother, broke into tears, last night because it was for the time that her li’l one was away from home on her birthday. She was scared that I would not get to cut the mithai wala cake, which my dad brought from his favourite halwai, I wouldn’t wear new clothes nor would I get as many presents as I did from my aunts, uncles, cousins and little sis.
But you know what? The World’s Best Hostelmates decided to prove her wrong. 🙂
How? Let’s have a look.
They made a cake for me!
We remember the day seven years back when were travelling in a Mumbai local trying hard to come up withe a name for our blog when struck us; Khushboo was always called a Jack of all Trades. The name stuck (with a slight modification, of course) and Minni was born. Six years, over 100 collaboration, lakhs of readers and several awards later; our love for blogging continues to grow. We continue to write on an eclectic range of topics from the funniest autorickshaw signs that we have spotted in Mumbai to how to bathe an elephant. We are true blue Munni of all Trades and we hope to continue on this joyride with our fellow Munnies and Munnas. Read More
