Turkish airlines crew with baby Kadiju
Baby Kadiju with the cabin crew

I don’t know if you are familiar with this story that used to be very common in the 90’s in India. People used to say that if you gave birth while travelling in a train or by flight, then you and your child would be entitled to free travel for the rest of your lives. Of course this was not true at all.

Just yesterday, when I was going through my news feed, I saw the story of a baby being born a flight of Turkish Airlines flashing across various websites. What happened was that a cabin crew, who saw a woman passenger named Nafi Diaby, 28-week-old pregnant traveler flying with Turkish Airlines’ flight, was suffering child-birth pains, promptly responded to her in order to assist her childbirth during the flight.

After the smooth landing of Boeing B737-900 type aircraft to the Ouagadougou Airport, the mother Nafi Diaby and her newborn baby girl were taken to the hospital in order to be kept under observation for a while.

Officials have reported that the baby and the mother currently do not have any health problems. And they also added that they’re still closely taking care of the mother and the newborn baby who named as “Kadiju”, on their stay at hospital.

The names of the cockpit and cabin crews’ names that worked for the miracle; Capt. Irfan Kursun, Capt. Melih Atalan, Chief Purser, Ayse Evrim Fidan, and the Cabin Attendants; Bouthayna Inanir, Azra Yurt, and Demet

Amazing isn’t it?

Just like what we have here in the Philippines, if you’re giving birth to a child while riding a bus or train, you’ll be entitled to receive a scholarship program for your child, but I haven’t witness of any case of it yet. This story is such an incredible and amazing one. Thank you for sharing!

Amazing how a 28-week old newborn could have survived coming out so early. I am happy everything turned out well for mom and baby, and the crew of the plane.

What and interesting article. You would think that the air line would prevent travel if you are 28 weeks into pregnancy. Glad everything turn out okay.

That’s an amazing story. My husband did not want me travelling when I was close to giving birth for this reason. We actually induced a few weeks before Christmas so we’d be able to travel to see family for the holidays..

That would have been a scary and AWESOME at the same time. Awesome for the crew to be able and witness such a beautiful even. Scary for the mom to not being in a hospital with professional.

That is so cool that they were able to take care of what could be an incredibly dangerous situation. I am so happy for them and for the baby and mom. It’s great that they are all safe and sound.

They say that births in the plane is luck for the airline. I always thought that there were free perks for airline birth but keeping the baby safe is important enough.

I can’t imagine giving birth while traveling in any form. This would be even worse on a plane for me. This is definitely an amazing story for sure!! Glad to hear that momma and baby are doing well.

Aww… that’s such a sweet news. So glad that the newborn is safe and sound. It will be pretty cool if Turkish airlines provides free flights for the mother and child for a certain amount of time!
