Let’s Make a Wish

Do you remember your childhood? Where finding a genie in a lamp and getting a wish fulfilled by sending a fallen eyelash floating in the air was something that we would strongly believe in. The child in me squeals in delight when an eyelash falls because I truly believe that if you want something real bad, the mysterious entity that runs the universe will try to fulfill it for you.

Poornima, my blogger friend, wished to buy the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 All-in-One Wireless Printer for little one. Reading her post here, http://aspoonfullofideas.com/blog/flipkart-se-abharwishhogipoori/ got me thinking about my childhood and the little wishes I had.
When I go back in time, I realize how the little things in life were important for me. I would wish for a bag of candies, getting A+ in drawing exam or a glittery butterfly hair clips that I had seen in the market. Surprisingly many of them would come true. I strongly suspect that it was because I would go and tell my mom what I had wished for but to me it was magical. I would gasp with delight and immediately close my eyes and thank the Wish Man for everything.
As I grew older, one of my friends told me that the best way to get more fallen eyelashes was to just pluck them out. That seemed like a wonderful idea till my mom found out about it. You see, the number of times I made a wish became too regular and she was definitely suspicious. She sat me on her lap and explained that only the wishes from a fallen eyelash came true. If I became too greedy, then the Wish Man would glue my eyelashes with Fevicol and I would never get any wish again. I was horror struck and I immediately pleaded to the Wish Man to forgive me.
I was reminded of those days when just yesterday a fallen eye lash floated right into my hand. It reminded me of a wish for a MacBook that I had made for my sister. couple of years ago. I remember closing my eyes back then, not dependent on one of my pretty eye lashes, and praying.

But if wishes came true because of prayers, then all of us would be really lazy bums. Nonetheless, I did have some hope deep in my heart. I believed that by some miracle and not to forget hard work, my wish would come true.

Even though I had been eyeing this particular laptop for my sis for a long long time but sadly my Rs. 450 per month pocket money could never add up to such a big amount. That day, I decided to start working for it. I took up content writing assignments, did a couple of part time jobs and rupee by rupee began to save money. My sister and mom contributed, too. They were my editors and would proof read everything I wrote to ensure that my work was perfect.

It took me two years but finally I managed to save the perfect figure , down to the last rupee, for a nifty new Macbook Air. I was just about to purchase it when….

Lo and behold! Wish Man decided to make my wish all the more sweeter by giving me an excellent discount on it.
I was and still am completely convinced that wishes do come true. All you need is a little handwork, some patience and a pinch of Flipkart’s amazing offers to make them come true.

Ha ha that fallen eyelash thing, I use to do that too! I would be lying if I say I don't do that anymore! Doing that actually feels good regardless of the reality!

I have a mixture of feelings when it comes to wishes. Indeed a lot of them came true but not the ones I really was wishing though.

Haha, thats a really cute story about the Wish Man. Funnily enough, I told my own children the same: when an eyelash falls out you can wish upon it. But you cant pull it out though, thats breaking the rules LOL

My macbook is like 6 years old already, and that's way beyond a gadget life. I'm thinking of changing it. Still saving up…

And wishing for discount also :p
