This is me:
Oh yes, this pretty little diagram perfectly depicts me and when I think about Melbourne, I realize that Melbourne is just like me. You want to know how? Let’s get started, shall we. 🙂
Broke Graduate smiles in the Melbourne tram
The City Circle Melbourne tram is perfect for student tourists like me who visit Melbourne on a shoe string budget. The tram runs free of cost and provides a commentary for interesting places in its route. I plan to hop in and out of the tram for a few days to cover important sights and sounds for free!
Mad Hatter loves the Gertrude Street Projection Festival
One of the coolest arts festival that I have ever heard of; Gertrude Street Projection Fest illuminates everything from buildings to lanes, foot paths, trees beautifully. This festival is overseen by the Gertrude Association and one can attend it free of cost.
Now, this makes the broke graduate in me sing 😀
Vibrant colours and hues adorn places and transform them into something majestic and magical. The Gertrude Street Projection Festival is possible due to contribution of some wonderfully talented artists.
I am definitely going to attend it and gawk 🙂
Letting myself go at the Yarra Valley wine tour
After skimping and saving so much on my internal travelling withing Melbourne, I think I can afford to let myself go at the Yarra Valley wine tour. As I sip wine from the Balwgownie Estate and the Yering Station, a helpful guide me will tell me all about the winery before he whisks me off for a sumptuous lunch.
Sidney Myer Free Orchestral Concert
The outdoorsy girl in me would love to attend the Sidney Myer Concerts. I plan to buy some fresh fruits from the Queen Vic market of course, roll out a comfy rug and sip the wine I brought from Yarra as I let music wash over me.
The Twelve Apostles for the Traveller in me
Gigantic rugged rocks right in the middle of the Port Campbell National Park are the famous Twelve Apostles. They have been created nearly 10 million years ago by erosion of limestone by the winds of the Southern Ocean.
What I love about these Twelve Apostles is their ever changing colours. When they bathe in sunlight, they are a beautiful yellow colour and as the sun bids them goodbye them, they get a pinkish hue and eventually become a fierce shade of black in moonlight.
The Melbourne Zoo
Cricket Fanatic at Melbourne Cricket Ground
The Cricket fanatic me is going bonkers to visit MCG, yes the stadium where fans went berserk to greet the Little Master. Yes, they very same stadium where some of the most exciting matches have been played. The minute I enter the stadium, I am going to take a complete tour of the stands, the changing rooms and the ground and will be glad to stand in the same place where Sachin once stood.
And once I manage to calm down, I will be glad to visit the state-of-the-art National Sports Museum at MCG.
Falling in love with nature at the Penguin Parade
Cute Little Penguins, as they are famously known are Melbourne’s biggest attraction and the nature lover in me is definitely over the moon at possibility of seeing them live! It is said that every sunset, the Penguins come out from the sea and make way to their sand dunes burrows much to visitor’s delight!
Vue de Monde
Counted as one of the finest restaurants in the world, Vue de Monde is the perfect place for gourmets. All you have to do is turn up on an empty stomach and enjoy a 10 course tasting menu prepared by Chef Bennett.
Victoria Market: A busy bee’s delight
Vic Market, Queen Vic or the Queen Victoria market has been famous since the past century. It fills up two blocks of Melbourne and the busy bee in me is really happy because I shop for whatever I want including groceries, clothes, souvenirs and anything else that my heart desires from this wonderful market!
So now I hope you realize why I am a perfect embodiment of Melbourne and both of us are: AWESOME! Wish me luck so that I can win a trip to Melbourne soon J
