Going frugal after Diwali

After taking a pledge to not burst phatakas, eating too many mithais, dancing, performing the Laxmi Puja and eating way too many mithais again, I fell into my bed and did not wake up for an entire day. And when I did, I found my stomach to be completed bloated, my skin dry and itchy and my hair well, I can’t even begin to describe it. So, I decided to take matters into my hand and do something healthy post the festive craze.

I should join a gym was my first thought but my near empty wallet just chuckled at me. I gave it a disdainful look and decided that I would go jogging every morning! See, now that sounded good.

Next on my list, was my skin and hair. I could clearly not afford a spa and so I decided to bring the spa to my home. I made a list of products that I would need, added jogging shoes and track pants to my list and left for the mall.
I would walk into a store, look at the prices and make a hasty retreat. The prices had gone up overnight! All the discounted clothes were now proudly displayed at their original rates. I ran out of the mall and entered the local market. I found one or two good things here and there but most of the products were of poor quality. I returned home with a glum face; I am never going to look pretty again!

That is when my mom, who can’t bear to see a frown on my face, told me, “Why don’t you try shopping online? That way you will save a lot of taxi fare and the products will be delivered at home”

I love my mom!
I quickly checked out the various websites but I realized that even though they were priced lower than the malls, this little broke girl could not afford it. But then I saw a small advertisement about a coupon website and I clicked on it. Lo and behold! I was in heaven! There were so many beauty and clothing related deals for so many shopping websites, even my favourite ones. I could get a significant amount of discount, buy something that is of great quality and get it delivered at home for free. Now, this is every girl’s dream come true, isn’t it? I checked out the various deals and started shopping instantly.
And now, I am just waiting for those amazing products to be delivered at home so that I can start reviewing them for you 🙂

I love coupon websites and online deals! Of course, not all of them offer good deals and value, but a lot do. ^^ Anyway, looking forward to see what items you got! 🙂

Shopping is a way of unleashing your creative subconscious that's why it brings so much hapiness! Glad you enjoyed your shopping spree and found some great deals.

I am regular on online shopping!!! In Asia, it's hard to buy big size clothings, so the online shopping world has been my biggest saviour!!

Your mom does make a good point about online shopping and I'm glad that you found something nice online. I hope I can be as game as you are – I'm still not comfortable with making online purchases but I guess, everything's gonna go to that direction eventually. PS. I looked up mithias and that is my word for the day 🙂

The convenience of online shopping really what draws customers. But I guess one of the disadvantages of online shopping is the sizes. I've tried buying online from different websites (locally or internationally) and my biggest problem when buying from an international site or shop, the sizes differ (asian here).

I have tried online shopping once but I guess it isn't for me. It is true that it is convenient but thew downside is you don't get to try the real product. In my case I had to return the pairs of shoes I ordered because they were bigger than my size.

Online shopping is awesome! Much prefer to shop online than in store these days – so many bargains to be had and so many vouchers for discount! Simone x

Couponing is a huge hobby in the Western Hemisphere. You can really save a ton and get a huge stockpile going at the same time..

I bet it will be fun doing all those DIY stuff at home! But just be careful of purchasing low quality stuff, which in turn set your skin/body condition way back! I'm always wary of such “discounted” offers!

Diwali is a great celebration but we all put a little extra weight on after such abundant dinners at the festivities. And I love online stores that offer great coupon codes and discounts so I totally understand your excitement.

  • I can describe this picture by talking about my unruly hair, tired eyes crooked teeth and double chin.

Or I could tell you how happy I was to be in Kerala after the floods to support the tourism industry.
We often focus on our flaws so much that we forget the happiest moments of our life.
While striving to look perfect for the world one should not forget that it is our "flaws" that make us so unique. How do you #FlauntYourFlaw? #TitanRaga @titanwatchesindia

  • So how do you bathe an #elephant?⁣
⁣
Step 1: Be very scared initially, freak about slipping and falling into the pond ⁣
Step 2: Talk to your friends and tell them you want to go⁣
Step 3: A wise friend, @indranipics will step up and tell you "Do it or you will regret it"⁣
Step 4: Keep your camera aside and gingerly make your way to the pond⁣
Step 5: Reach out to Ratnamala who is very playful and loving ⁣
Step 6: Throw caution to the winds and touch Ratnamala⁣
Step 7: Scrub Ratnamala with grass which makes her trumpet in pleasure⁣
Step 8: Get drenched when Ratnamala decides that she wants to bathe you too⁣

  • It is believed that weight loss is a combination of eating right and exercising. I have been using soy in my and my family’s diet increasingly to improve our protein intake. Soy is particularly good for your children and their overall growth. Do read my latest blog post that talks about why it is important to incorporate soy proteins in your child’s diet.
P.S. This picture is with a local farmer at Lonavala who grows organic vegetables including soy. Healthy eating and healthy living is possible thanks to everyday heroes like him.

You will put the pictures of pots on Facebook? Paint them first and they will look prettier. Pink, blue, green, yellow but not red. They are already red."⁣

  • Our imperfections make us unique and beautiful. I have crooked teeth which made me conscious of smiling as a child. I have finally learnt to accept them as they were. It is not easy as it sounds especially when you were constantly made fun of in school. These days I smile for no reason. ⁣

Which imperfection are you proud of?⁣

Spent a happy afternoon learning about the traditional fishing techniques with Bodo women. The small basket called ‘Kobai’ that you can see is used to keep the fish and the 'net' called ‘jekai’ is used to catch small fish. ⁣
⁣
How many fishes did we manage to catch you ask?⁣
⁣
Only one because we kept asking these lovely ladies to pose for us :D⁣

Have you ever travelled to a place that is pristine and almost untouched by man? Kalamati with its watchful hills in the backdrop, the frolicking Kanamakra river and the natural mineral lick deposits that attract elephants and the golden langurs is one such place. I spent an afternoon in the area taking in its natural beauty. ⁣
⁣
Did you know that Kalamati is located right next to the Indo Bhutan border? On the other side of the bridge is the Happiest Country in the world. ⁣
⁣
The Indian army braves hot summers and punishing winters to stay on guard at the border area. I left Kalamati with a small sample of the natural mineral lick and a few oddly shaped stones to remind me of the incredibly cold water and the serenity of this place. ⁣
