Have you ever heard of the words ‘health’ and ‘fun’ being taken in the same breath? I am sure most of you have not. But, through my little attempt today, I am going to show you how being healthy does not have to be boring. Intrigued? Let’s get started! J
Dance your way to health!
Switch on some groovy music and dance, Oppa Gangnam style! Or if you prefer something more refined, you can take up classical dance lessons.
Look that is me giving a three minute performance for which I practiced for months. I lost nearly 3 kgs just by rehearsing! Any dance form be it free style, Bollywood or Bharat Natyam burns off a lot of calories. You don’t mind getting sweaty because you are enjoying yourself. Isn’t that great? This amazing video proves me right1 Do check it out J
Relive your childhood
Cycle, climb on trees, play hide and seek and swing away to glory! As silly as this sounds, these activities are a great way to stay healthy. You can play around with your children or just do something on your own. Not only will you get a chance to refresh your memories but you will also become fit.
Take up team sports
The reason why my dad is still as fit as a strapping young man is because he never fails to play cricket on the weekends. Sometimes they train younger children but most of the times his team is busy chasing the ball or trying to hit it over the boundary. If cricket is not your thing, you can take up football, basketball or anything you fancy. Exercising in groups is a great motivating factor and it will serve a dual purpose. You will get an opportunity to hang out with your friends and also lose weight in the process. You can take some healthy snacks along and lots of cold water along with fresh juice of course to the match, too
Take the stairs
Lifts are the devil’s incarnate! They guzzle energy like crazy and make you a lazy lump. Next time when you pass an elevator, just scoff it and take the stairs!
If you have to climb more than two floors, then listen to some music and sing along as you climb instead of huffing and puffing. You will reach your destination in no time at all.
Have chai and biscuits
Now the minute someone says healthy food, we start picturing bowls full of raw vegetables. But do you know that chai and biscuits can be healthy, too. Yup, you heard me right! You enjoy a steaming cup of green tea with some lemon and honey and Sunfeast farmlite biscuits.
These are not your regular biscuits that are full of calories. These contain almonds, raisins and even oats. They are available in two variants, Oats & Almonds and Oats & Raisins and they are really delicious. I, personally, have started substituting them in place of my regular biscuits and I am in love with them J
