I squealed with joy when a heavy parcel arrived at my doorstep on a particularly morose day. I quickly opened my package to find three beautiful diaries that Matrikas had sent across. I then grabbed a pair of scissors and carefully cut the thin plastic cover on the diaries and inhaled the smell of fresh paper. Yes, as odd as it sounds, the first thing that I always have done ever since I was a child was to open a book and take in its fragrance; freshness combined with a little woodiness and well… I am at a loss for words now. A new book to me smells like a little bit of heaven on its own J
So, when I was done sniffing around, I started admiring the look and the feel of these diaries. I first picked up the office diary, which was in a gorgeous shade of green with ‘Cube Works’ elegantly embossed on its cover. It had a rich feel and I loved running my hands on its super smooth paper. Instantly I thought of my dad, who I am sure could do with one of these.
You see, recently he had taken to using his smartphone to remember all his important meetings but he was really struggling with it. The device would start buzzing at inopportune moments and he simply couldn’t turn it off. He used to reminiscence about the good old days when he would simply carry a piece of paper in his pocket to note down his schedule.
The Cube Works diary would be ideal for him as it would not add complications to his life like his nasty cell phone and it would definitely look a lot more sophisticated than a piece of paper. Also, it has a nice band that keeps it closed and secure at all times which means that he can easily carry some of his important documents int it.
This diary would also be ideal for my mom, who simply loves to experiment while cooking. I remember as a kid I would sit next to her and watch Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khana Khazana, mouth watering in anticipation of what mom would make in the evening after learning from the master of cooking himself. Many a time, she would make something absolutely delicious but would lose the paper on which she had noted down the recipe. Just take a sneak peak into her diaries.
She first started writing in 1989 and she still collects recipes, poems and even clippings from the newspaper.
So, I am going to do something selfish. I will buy her one nice Cube Works diary for her to ensure that she never ever loses a single recipe again.
Matrikas also sent across a cool 5 subject notebook, which will be ideal for me! I am in my last semester of college and I think it is high time I start taking down notes neatly instead of scribbling in a different book every day.
In school, we had this really nice Hindi teacher who had taught us how to make cute doll shaped dividers so that we could write two separate subjects in one book.
As I grew older, I forgot that little craft that she had taught me and my books started looking messy. All the subjects were written in random order and I would spend a good part of pre exam holidays sorting notes out.
But a 5 subject note book, will definitely solve my little problem. What I love about this notebook is that they have these colourful papers separating one section from the other. And since they are blank, I can personalize them with some cool drawings.
You see, in of the sections I have stuck a Warli painting drawn by my cousin. Doesn’t it look awesome?
The quality of paper is great and I can even try out my calligraphy skills on it. Most notebooks nowadays have such thin papers that if one uses an ink pen, the words start smudging. But not with Matrikas! The quality of the paper is too good for words!
Check out my quill and ink pot!
The third one was a neon pink notebook, which is ideal for my sister. She is in love with the colour and she carries it with her everyday!
This book is ideal for any student living in a city like Mumbai where it rains heavily. It has a thick plastic covering, which will protect the books from water and also getting those ugly dog ears. It has a nice quirky design on it and any student would love to flaunt it in the class.
Matrikas ,basically, has paper products to make my entire family happy and all of us are really enjoying ourselves! In fact mom and dad have already started a mini fight as I am writing this post as to who is going to start using the diary and who is going to wait for Flipkart to deliver to our house in a couple of days.
Now, when it comes to availability of these products, let me tell you can choose from their collection available on Flipkart and Snapdeal. They are also available with major retailers.
In the end, we all would just like to say one thing to you:
