Read on to know how Jabong mistreats bloggers and do yourself a favour, DO NOT participate in their blogging contest!
Reason 1: They don’t care about their winners
I was one of the winners chosen to attend the Jabong LFW event at Grand Hyatt. I was really excited about it and I travelled 10 hours from my hostel to Mumbai. Let me tell you it was one of the worst experiences of my life.
First, I was given only one pass when I was supposed to get three by a volunteer at the venue. When I informed her, she said she will get back to me and disappeared. After frantically calling their PR representative I managed to get my other two passes and my friends and I got entry.
The entire room was jam packed with people who did not have a pass and people with a valid passes were made to stand. When I pointed out to a volunteer, she just shrugged and left. Why would you invite bloggers to attend events when you can’t be bothered to ensure that they get a place to sit to watch your show?
Reason 2:They have snooty PR’s who treat guests like dirt
After the event, I contacted their PR representatives who just brushed it off saying that fashion shows are usually run like this. When I asked them why did they bother to give passes to people when any random person could walk in and see the show, I was told that the people were friends and family of those walking the ramp and they could not refuse seats to them.
My question is that if you cannot treat your prize winners with respect, why do you bother calling them for any sort of event?
The ‘prize’ was a chance to see the Jabong runway show, which I could not. I don’t see why bother giving such ‘prizes’? If you want to treat bloggers like second rate people, who are made to stand in one corner, then why invite them?
Reason 3:They think Jabong gift vouchers can buy anything
Disappointed with the experience, I contacted the Jabong representatives through emails. After sending in three emails to the team, I got a reply after 5 days.
This is what it said, “You being a valued blogger and a loyal customer at Jabong.com, we value your feedback.
We want to send you a gift voucher worth Rs. 1500/- for you and two gift vouchers for your friends (worth Rs.500/-) as a token of appreciation & gratitude for your concern on Jabong.com Blogger Events.”
I was embarrassed in front of my friends who came along with me and I travelled a long way to attend a supposedly exclusive event and Jabong thinks that they can shut my mouth by throwing some vouchers at me?
Reason 4:They don’t know how to handle their email account
Their official email account for contests is a joke. They accidentally forwarded me an email which contained feedback from a blogger regarding participation prizes. Good for me, I got allies! J
Reason 5:They can’t be bother to keep up their promises
They had another contest running during LFW, “Dorothy Perkin Shoppable Hangout” where the judges would pick out the best contests asked by bloggers and award them exciting DP goodies.
This is what the email read
“You being a valued blogger at Jabong.com, are invited for this Shoppable hangout wherein you have the opportunity to ask your questions to models and designers. Besides there is a contest where you can ask your questions to top designer like Anita Dongre & model li Mandira Bedi, best questions selected by our judges will win Dorothy Perkins products .”
However, Jabong could not be bothered to choose winners so they decided to give prizes to everybody. Not a problem. But, if you read the email carefully, it says that the best questions selected by the judges will win prizes. Since they declared that all the questions are winners, then should someone, who has posted 5 to 6 questions expect 5 to 6 vouchers?
That is what anybody will logically assume but obviously they didn’t give multiple vouchers.
After I sent an email about the same, they finally gave the winners the option to opt for a gift voucher or Dorothy Perkin product. On asking what will the Dorothy Perkin product will be, they said, “It’s against company policy” (Yes, it was as if I was asking them to reveal how to make WMD)
Reason 6:They send you broken, dusty surprises
Also, all the unlucky participants of their contests were supposed to get ‘surprise gifts’ as participation prizes. Anyway, after another set of emails from my end, I got the tracking details for my surprise gifts, which were dress up magnets.
The thing that irritated me the about them were:
They were covered in dust
They were of pathetic quality
They stained my hands
Their package had a Snapdeal tape on it (God knows why!)
The cases were chipped
They were absolutely pathetic.
Reason 7:Highly unprofessional Staff
There was this lady who handles Jabong’s Blogging contest and I was in touch with her throughout this mess. Now, instead of replying to my emails she sends me a friend request on Facebook. I initially did not accept it, but later when she did not reply to my emails, I decided to send her message on Facebook. After that she blocks me from her account.
Crazy much? It’s for you to decide.
Makes promises that it cannot keep
Contradicts official emails
Takes Bloggers for granted.
Cannot be bothered to judge contests
For every ten emails, they send in one reply

Here’s what a fellow blogger had to say:
Really Jabong? You hold a contest for bloggers and end up selecting few as winners. Then you give a pass to one of your shows as a prize(precisely send an e-invite). Now on the day of the show you create a scene at the entrance, you even show your doubt towards the authenticity of the e-invite that you had only sent. Once you let the bloggers enter, you do not even provide them with seats and make them stand for the entire show. And now after so many days you send them some Dress up Board Games?

I don’t think you need any more reasons to NEVER participate in Jabong’s Blogger contest ever again.
