I think the title is quite self explanatory, so instead of a boring introduction I am just going to tell you some of the best moments of my life J
Gillu the Squirrel!
Ever since I got my new camera, I was been bitten by the photography bug, quite literally, I would roam around the campus trying to click insects and small animals. The only animal that had managed to dodge my camera is a squirrel. No matter I what I did, my photos would come out blurred. One day, at 5 in the morning, my frined tried to wake me up. She was saying something about squirrels but I swatted her away. After trying for 10 minutes, she decided to wash away my sleep, with some water of course, and dragged me down my bunk with my camera. I was giving her incoherent gaalis for waking me up at this ungodly hour (she did not even give me time to wear my sweater!) when I saw her…A beautiful baby squirrel sleeping inside our loo. Sleep forgotten, I started clicking as many pictures as possible without waking her up.
Me:( Click Click) Thank you!
Friend:(Running) I need to pee, can’t hold any longer
Yep, she had got up to go the loo but when she saw the squirrel, she decided to come and wake up me up. Girl friends can hold off peeing for 30 minutes, to make a crazy friend happy.
Nasty, shoe inhabiting frog!
How we react to each other’s foolishness?
My campus boasts of a great gym and I decided to pay it a visit when my generously buttered toasts started showing around my waist and arms. I woke up on a regular morning, brushed my teeth and started wearing my shoes. But my feet just wouldn’t fit in one of them. I thought maybe the flap has got stuck inside and put my hand inside only to come in contact with something slimy and wet. The minute I pulled my hand, a frog jumped out. I screamed. All my dorm mates jumped out of their beds, a couple of girls from the nearby dorms came out to check whether everything was ok. And when they saw the frog hopping in my dorm, my shoe lying around and me standing in the middle of the room looking foolish, they shook their heads and promptly went back to sleep.
I am a screamer you see, whenever an insect decided to pay a friendly visit, I scream; nothing new for these people.
Best 10 min cake ever!
How we celebrate Birthdays
Buying a cake is not an option; we will have to travel for over 50 kms to get our hands on a decent one. So we simply make cakes for each other. Mithai cake (crushing mithai, adding pieces of Cadbury and biscuit to it and moulding it into a cute shape) or our new addition, the biscuit cake (Dip Marie biscuits in coffee, smear chocolate on it and stack it up)
For presents, we simply use our talent and the internet. Have a look at the recent gift me and my dorm mates made for a friend’s birthday.
I made these!
Cool right? We just used wool, glue and scissors!
How we got waxed the first time ever
Me:I was so obsessed about having smooth and waxed legs like my friends (I wasn’t allowed to go to a salon till I passed the 10th standard) that I would buy stickers in bulk, paste them on my legs and pull hoping that the hair would go away.
Friend 1(miraculously came alive after dying of laughter): I stole my dad’s razor to get rid of my hair. For a few days it was all right but soon the hair decided to take revenge. I could not still without scratching till they had grown to a certain length and after that I promised to never disturb them again.
Friend 2:I would pluck my hair out with tweezers
Friend 3: All of you are gross; get back to studies. We got an exam in 15 minutes!
Yes were discussing it right outside the exam hall because we were sick of studying.
Friend showing off!
How I discovered my true calling
Being the only person in my entire school who failed in drawing, I always try to improve my drawing skills during boring lectures. But do you know what my friend always did? She would show me down with her superior strokes!
To get back, I challenged her to her game of X and O which was a tie and then we then went on to play stone, paper, scissors in whispers. By this time, the Professor figured out that we were up to no good and asked us to sit apart. In my friend deprived state, I started doodling random things till I realized what my true talent was! Drawing warli art. Since then, I draw a warli painting in every class. I plan to become a great artist one day!

How we get our hands on fruits
Fortunately my campus has a huge kitchen garden which nobody really supervises. Last week, we managed to get our hands on a ripe papita. Can you imagine the joy of picking one up and running away before the maali catches you?
We may seem crazy, mad, deranged or any other synonym you can come up with but we are each other’s rock and we will be there for each other no matter what. 🙂
